OK, so I probs can’t be able to do one model, let alone make something as impressive as the one above or those below this line, but I want one.
Surely some much older models get thrown away eventually? I’d like some. The smaller, the better.

I’ve got several of individual buildings that I’ve made. They’re typically very fragile though:(

I did work for a company that used to build these. I bet few of them get thrown away. They end up in the storage area where they are discovered 40 years later.

To the eBay! The ones I linked aren’t originals but I think that with enough patience you might see some originals pop up for sale once in a while. Although those would probably be very expensive.

Sudden thought: Aren’t there 3D puzzles? Maybe those will suffice?

There are. There’s also Lego Architecture series. Actually if you’re handy with Lego you could build some pretty impressive architectural scale models with it.

Nah, LEGO is too precious for what I have in mind.

My Thesis model lit up. I’ve seen the original model for Boston City Hall and the city model for the big dig which was like 30’ long

I threw all mine from Architecture school away almost 10 years ago. They were just too damn big to keep moving with them.

Damn. Though it would have been nicer if you didn’t part with them with a whimper, but with a bang.

That was always the plan. I was going to run them over with an RC monster truck. Alas, when it was time for them to go, I had no time for shenanigans :|

Many many years ago, I worked for an art supply store in LA as a delivery driver. One of my regular deliveries was Frank Gehry Architecture. I would always chat with the guy who made all of the scale models for the firm, in a really nice little shop. He once offered me a really nice model of some building they had competed for but lost. I should have taken it, but it was huge and I didnt have anywhere to store it at the time. I think they used a few for display around the office and threw out the others.
Side note: I went to school for car design, and we built many 1:5 scale clay models(all nicely detailed and painted), which some guys kept, but i think most people threw them away. I only have one left, but ill probably toss it at some point.

Man you made me expound my evil plan, the reason why I was inquiring about this stuff.
You see, I wanted to have these models just so I can send them to the local police when they confiscate illegal fireworks, and keep some smaller ones, like condominiums, so I can blow them up with legal fireworks.

I suspected ordinance was involved :)

Color is rare in modern Architecture models, and most are gifted to the client anyway.
